Membership

 

What does it mean to be a member of a church?  The word member makes you think of joining a pool or club, however in the church the word takes on a different meaning.  St. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:12 that "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ."  The rest of 1 Corinthians chapter 12 affirms individuals that each person is unique and needed as part of the body of Christ.  

 

This means that joining the church is about getting to know Jesus by participating in worship and by taking the time to develop meaningful relationships with other people who are on this same journey of faith.    

 

As a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church you will be committing to Follow Jesus, Make Disciples, Embrace the Community as followers of Jesus in Tampa, FL with this body of believers, and you will also be part of the greater Christian community of believers.  

 

The membership process is as follows:

 

Holy Trinity's membership process balances both the importance of information and relationship.  Over the three sessions, people will gain a feel for the church and the direction of the ministry.  All three of these sessions are necessary for membership.  

 

  1. All About the Lutheran Church - Spend time with Pastor Dan discussing the unique aspects of the Christian Faith from the Lutheran perspective.  Prior to attending this class, individuals are asked to watch the video series God Connects from Lutheran Hour Ministries.  Here is the link to the free series https://www.lhm.org/GODCONNECTS/.  If you are familiar with the Lutheran Church this will be a review, and if you are new to the Lutheran Church this will give you helpful insight.  Free coffee and childcare.

 

  1. All About Holy Trinity – Spend time with a member of Holy Trinity to learn more about the Mission and Vision of the church.  This class will help you to engage in the church community, so you will have an opportunity to start building relationships with other people who Follow Jesus, Make Disciples, and Embrace the Community.  Free coffee and childcare provided.  

 

  1. Gifted for Service – Spend time with a member of Holy Trinity to learn more about the talents that God has gifted to you for service in your everyday life and the church.  Prior to attending this session each person will take Strengthfinder 2.0.  Free Coffee and childcare are provided.

 

  1. Membership Sunday – After completing the membership process you will be welcomed into church during the 10:30am worship service.
